Jan Stael (NL)

A chartered accountant at PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) for over 40 years - from assistant to partner - until 2013. Responsible for auditing and advising large AEX/AMX and NYSE listed companies as well as large companies not listed on the stock exchange.

Experienced in various sectors and branches: telecommunications, construction, transport, real estate, energy, and the financial sector. Held various management positions at PwC, such as member of the board of PwC Accountants. Gained expertise in regulations and compliance, and served as PwC Compliance Officer for five years.

Worked for the professional body for accountants (NIVRA/NBA), first as a member of the Board for four years, then, as of 2014, as a member of the Supervisory Board (Raad voor Toezicht), which, on behalf of the professional body for accountants, is charged with supervising audits conducted by accountants.

Following my retirement in 2013, I became active as an independent advisor (accounting/audit/risk and governance) and supervisor/statutory auditor.

Private life: married. Hobbies: playing golf, walking (the dog) and theatre visits (cabaret).
